How to Host a Fun Holi Party!

Wanna have a holi party with your friends and family? Here's our ultimate guide to a great holi festival!

Holi Party Planning

  1. Buy Holi Colors: You can buy Holi colors at your local Indian grocery store like Patel Brothers or Amazon. A lot of Holi colors are organic but some mischievous people like to buy "Pakka color". 😈 BEWARE that pakka color will not come off easily! Some people find that the color stains their skin for days. To avoid this, buy organic color—unless everyone at the party is willing to risk being stained with colors.
  2. What to Wear to a Holi Party? Believe it or not, ask guests to wear White! You're probably thinking why on earth would I wear white when I won't be able to wash the colors out! White shirts help the colors show up the best for pictures.  Find an old white shirt or pale colored shirt in your closet. If you don't have go shopping or get a basic white shirt from the craft store. Or you could wear our funny chappal shirt! Make sure you are not emotionally attached to the shirt because you will wreck it! We also recommend bringing a pair of clean clothes to change into after the Holi party.
  3. Buy Water Balloons and Pichikaris: Make sure you are considerate about how much water you use in case your locality has rules for water usage. This is part of the fun when you're attacking people with colors at the holi party!

The Day of the Holi Party

  1. Play Bollywood Music: Create a music playlist to your favorite Bollywood songs and don't forget to include our go-to Holi Festival Party song, Balam Pichkari! 💃🏽
  2. Serve Up Some Snacks: Serve snacks before you start playing Holi so everyone's energized to play and the colors don't contaminate the food. You can cater some snacks from your local Indian restaurant, buy some prepackaged snacks from your local Indian grocery store or be a chef and make your own snacks!
  3. Take Pictures! Cover phones in ziplock bags or a waterproof pouch to prevent the camera from being dusty.
  4. Have Fun! Holi is a super fun festival and it brings people together!
